I Spent 9 Days in Georgia Solo — Was It Safe & How Much Did I Spend?

Before i flew to Georgia, i had two questions : Would i actually feel safe travelling there alone as a female and how much would 9 days really cost me?

So I went to find out. But before I explained further, do you know where is Georgia? It is located at the South of Russia & North of Turkey and it is a blend of Europe and Asia.

I did some research on the latest development of visiting Georgia in 2026 and as i dive deeper, my curiosity level heightened up immensely especially the Caucasus Mountains, Kazbegi (officially named Stepantsminda).

Here some of the pictures that may enticed you to travel this beautiful country.

Here’s the truth - I was a little nervous but excited at the same time.

2 weeks before I fly, there were some news about travellers gone missing and found dead appeared on my feed. As much as i don’t like to read bad news but when solo travelling I somehow try to understand the situation and always be vigilant and NEVER share your stories on social medias of your whereabout. I usually post mine once I am out of that country.

Suddenly this news were at my feed.

Hlun Solo was also found dead recently. Rest in Peace to these souls.

But don’t let this news dampened your interest to visit this country because crime happened everywhere but we just need to be extra careful.

So far, i am fortunate, had great time and feel safe when I was in Georgia except for the dogs chasing another dog that was walking beside me at Truso Valley. Scared the %$^ out of me. Thankfully the chasing stopped, I’m grateful for that. Because there are countries that I’ve visited and i felt like getting out of the place ASAP. Mine you i was stalked at Greece and I didnt like the streets of Paris. And how i got myself injured at the White crater in Bandung, incidents happened sometime. We just need to be alert and face those consequences. But it shouldn’t stopped you from exploring the world and live your life interestingly.

So if you are also wanting to visit this country but do not know how and when to start, well check out my Georgia travel cost breakdown as below :

3. Buy travel insurance (Starting January 1, 2026, all tourists entering Georgia will be required to have valid health and accident insurance)
4. Data Roaming - esim / MAXIS roaming (as i went to Doha, Georgia and Armenia)

Anyway, for this trip, it was a mix of dorm and single room, a lot of walking/hiking, trying their local foods and mingle with the culture and the locals.

Starting from the immigration, It was fast, smooth and easy process. (they only checked my passport and ask how long I’m staying).. I heard stories about some being questioned and required more documents eg travel insurance, hotel booking, how much bank balance. So just get yourself prepared.

I mostly hire a taxi via BOLT apps and had pleasant experiences. Do not hop in to any random taxi especially at the airport. Some are scammers.

The Georgians that I’ve met are mostly shy at first but kind and friendly once we start talking. Learned few words especially GAMARJOBA (Hello) and MADLOBA (Thank you)
