The world is my classroom!

Growing up from a humble beginning in a small hometown in Mentakab Pahang, Malaysia, I’ve always been fascinated with mother nature and curious with the beauty of life. Adventure is in my DNA however was only discovered at later part of my life. Well, all thanks to the Wanderlust of travelling when I only started to travel overseas at 26 from a contest. Yes, you heard that right! My first encounter to travel overseas by flight was to Bali with songstress Misha Omar from Laurier’s slogan contest in 2005.

Back then, as an Asian, to travel overseas usually costs a hefty amount of moolah. Let me share with you some travelling hacks and tips so you can save a lot of your worries and money for other problems. Are you up for an adventure with me? Too late you are coming with me. Let’s Wander with Devi!

10 FUN FACTS ABOUT ME

  1. I love to join contests and competitions. My first overseas trip was an all expenses paid to Bali Indonesia with Malaysian song bird Misha Omar and ever since knowing the taste of winning a trip that I don’t have to pay and gives me joy at the same time, I’ve been on many quests (like Indiana Jones) to keep my hobby and hammering down some awesome trips. Till date, I’ve won over 20 trips which includes to Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Amsterdam, New Zealand, Nepal, Thailand, Macao, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan to name a few. I’ve also won several cool gadgets like iPad, Gopro, iPhones etc. Jumping with joy.

  2. This lead me to Jumprope / Skipping and Hiking which are also another hobby of mine that keeps me in shape, sane and active. You may check out my social media page for some jumprope workouts..

  3. I don’t drink coffee and please don’t force me to indulge it. I like my tea and fresh fruit juices especially Watermelon without any added sugar.

  4. I’m Malaysian with half Indian and half Chinese in my DNA. So I speak English, Bahasa Malaysia, I could understand a bit of Mandarin, Cantonese, Tamil and Indonesian.

  5. I don’t like to read but I love to write. I wrote adventurous tale storybooks (in Bahasa) during teens and still keeping those handwritten scrapbook.

  6. I love adventurous and outdoor activities or sports but also I love to stay at home.

  7. I’m a lefty and I used to love to draw, perhaps I should start again.

  8. Every year I will find at least 1 new skill or interest that I would try. It has been 10 years since I started this and it such a liberating feeling to look back and to compare myself how I’ve progress and grow between then and now.

  9. I love Chinese and Japanese food. I don’t take spicy food but I don’t mind to try new food especially during travelling.

  10. I joined Malaysian’s Fear Factor in year 2007 and ate bunch of weird stuff like a mix of raw goat brain & fermented shrimp paste. Such an awesome experience meeting some really cool bunch of people. At the same year I also joined Ms Malaysia Indian Global as I was ‘scouted’ at the shopping mall. Well why not give it a try. I moved into semifinals but oh well at least it ticked off my checklist done quite right. hehe. Any of you my Malaysian Indian girls want to try? Go HERE
